Turku, the former capital city of Finland received its first Smartcart intelligent shopping carts.
In the midst of revamping K-Supermarket Runosmäki, store owner Juha Pöyhönen grasped the opportunity provided by Smartcart. Commerce has become more and more digitized through different types of screens and digitalization. When I learned about Smartcart I was immediately sold, Mr. Pöyhönen says. Many digital systems and methods are still relatively rough cut, but with Smartcart you saw immediately that this is up and running as a complete package, Mr. Pöyhönen continues.
Smartcart is a concrete tool for customers.
The basic in-store displays are all the same to people passing by. Smartcart on the other hand is a more concrete tool for the customer. It is with you the whole shopping trip and you can interact with it. That’s great, says Mr. Pöyhönen. Mr. Pöyhönen is also attracted by the ease of Smartcart.
We hardly need to do anything. The equipment loads itself and entering new offers into the system is a breeze. The shop is a hectic work environment that you do not wish to spend any additional time on unnecessary systems.
Runosmäki ON RENEWAL IN PROGRESS
K-Supermarket Runosmäki regenerates gradually.
We first started to rebuild our service counters and built delicacy market. Now, among other things, we produce our own here minced meat, Mr. Pöyhönen says. The Runosmäki K-Supermarket reform is a longterm plan for Mr. Pöyhönen. A bigger renovation shall be considered later. I started here as a merchant just before the busy Christmas season, so I have not had time yet to host a welcome coffee, Mr. Pöyhönen laughs.
Coffee and pastries are served in the K-Supermarket Runosmäki now on Friday. At the same time Smartcart’s staff will guide customers about the use of Smartcarts intelligent shopping carts.

From the Helsinki area, we have expanded first to Tampere and now, most recently in Turku.
